THE ICON OF ROME
Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine hill
This is certainly the most classic tour of Rome and has a good reason for being so: the Colosseum is undoubtedly the most classic symbol of Rome. It is an icon; it’s the image that we all think of when we think of Rome. We've all seen it a thousand times even without ever really seeing it.
In many respects, the Colosseum is Rome, and Rome is the Colosseum.
Yet, the story is not that simple.
What was the Colosseum? What used to happen in the biggest "arena" of the empire?
Every place shows off its splendor and hides its dirty laundry.
Starting from the foundation of the city, passing through the height of its splendor until the fall of the empire, this tour seeks to get to the heart of it all, comprehending the highs and lows of one of the most
controversial periods in western history.
